Apprentice HR Assistant
In the Human Resources and Organisational Development service, we are all about creating the best environment for people to work and achieve.
The purpose of the People and Talent team will be to deliver the people strategy elements that make a fundamental difference to how our staff perceive and talk about their experiences in Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
The People Talent Team will drive and own a significant number of key initiatives to change and embed an outstanding employee experience and development programme.
Starting right at the point of attraction, the team will design and deliver campaigns to recruit exceptional candidates and lead the approach to recruit for attitude. Your key targets in this area will be exceptional feedback from candidates and managers about the whole resourcing and on-boarding experience.
The team will also be responsible for delivering key engagement and experience programmes for leaders, managers, professional development, talent programmes and development opportunities for progression and growth within Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
Taking the whole range of employee engagement drivers, the team will focus on creating the right environment for staff to succeed at work. Employee voice will be a key measure of how successful this team is. Responsible for everything from pay and benefits, reward and recognition, staff networks, engagement activity and employer brand.
Ultimately, this team will have in place the key strategies, interventions and activities that will make Hammersmith and Fulham Council “the best Council to work for” – judged and assessed through staff views, perceptions and in-work experience from the results and feedback received from the recipients of council services.
You will work in a supported learning environment within a local government setting where you will develop the skills and knowledge required for an HR Assistant apprentice by working alongside experienced council employees. You will also complete an HR Support qualification which will enhance your knowledge, skills and abilities and help you progress in your future career.
The apprentice roles across all disciplines within the HR service are to provide support to the delivery of our work plans. As an important step for our future talent, the apprentices and advisers must have the ability to learn and demonstrate their application of learning in their relevant discipline and activities. A can-do and commitment to ensuring deadlines are met with work to a high standard is important.
Within each of the specialist areas, the apprentice will:
- Deliver work to an agreed plan and timetable.
- Demonstrate their learning and professional development.
- Support a wide range of projects and activities across the service.
- Learn specific professional areas of expertise and take the opportunity to lead on small projects from time to time.
To achieve this, you will have the ability to:
- Be clear in your communication.
- Understand how to plan and organise your work.
- Have the ability to learn for yourself and learn from others.
- Contribute on other areas of work across the service.
- Demonstrate the right attitude and be a positive ambassador for the service and our talent programmes.
- Commit to your learning programme and completing the work to a high standard.
